The Oncology Social Worker works closely with Oncology Nurse Navigators, Nurses and Physicians to provide support counseling and resources to the outpatient oncology population.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Social Worker 2 at Meridian includes:
Providing counseling as requested by patient/physician and referrals for counseling to community agencies
Providing patients and families with resources related to their disease process
Educating about risks and benefits of options
Educating patients on how to obtain services and available health care benefits
Patients are educated regarding their health status, attempts to maximize self-care skill, to increase patient's ability to cope with health status, to enhance patient participation in continuing care and to inform patient about his/her financial responsibilities for treatment
Responsibility for the oncology psycho social assessment
Participating in oncology support groups and community events
Qualifications
Current and valid LSW or LCSW in the State of New Jersey is required
Must have a minimum of a Masters level degree or higher in social work or a related mental health field
Previous Oncology experience is preferred
Ability to work with a diverse team and familiarity with community resources is preferred

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
